1) Call for Volunteers

What is FutureFantastic?

FutureFantastic is an ambitious festival conceptualized by Jaaga’s BeFantastic (India), in association with FutureEverything (UK), scheduled for March 2023 in Bangalore, India. The festival and its programming is supported by the British Council India UK Season of Culture.

FutureFantastic hopes to communicate the urgency of the climate emergency by leveraging the novelty and, therefore, the public fascination of artwork that is created in collaboration with Artificial Intelligence. Complementing the exhibition of such artworks, would be various kinds of programmes including dialog sessions and workshops with experts in the domain, that might holistically communicate different aspects of the climate emergency to diverse audiences while proliferating a certain degree of technological literacy.

As volunteers, you would be an integral part of the festival, and be present to support activities from installations, to guiding people and answering queries, helping with registrations amongst others.

If chosen, you would be paid ₹2,500 a day for your effort.  

What are we looking for?

We are looking for dedicated college students, artists, freelancers, researchers, corporate employees etc, above the age of 18. 

  • People Skills: You will be engaging with people 
  • Language: be comfortable speaking two or more languages. Preference would be given to English and Kannada speakers
  • Banglore-based or willing to travel to the festival venue in Bengaluru (Indiranagar, JP Nagar).
  • Familiarity with digital installations would also come in handy
  • Thinking on your feet 

In addition, you should be able to 

  • attend interviews 
  • be available to interact with artists in days preceding the festival
  • follow the festival code of conduct with festival attendees

At the Festival:

If your proposal is accepted, you will receive the following:

2) Call for Art Mediators

What are we looking for?

We are looking for dedicated school and college students, artists, freelancers, corporate employees etc., above 18 years who: 

  • are comfortable speaking English and one more regional language (preference to Kannada speakers) 
  • have good public speaking skills: should be comfortable leading tours with 5-10 people 
  • have good presentation skills: Should be well-groomed and articulate
  • be willing to travel to the festival venue in Bengaluru.
  • have the knowledge/experience of attending online workshops (zoom, emails etc).

In addition, they should be able to:

  • attend all online workshop sessions and complete tasks on time
  • travel to Bengaluru and participate for full days during the dates of the festival (if chosen) 
  • be available to interact with artists in days preceding the festival
  • apply the mediation tools to build and refine personal stories about the artworks
  • adapt, practice and present art mediator tours before the opening of the festival
  • lead between 4-6, 15-minute tours per day with approximately 10 people
  • follow the festival code of conduct with festival attendees

What will you get out of this experience?

From the Art Mediator Training: 

  • Resources on the history of techart
  • Exposure to artworks, backstories and its making
  • Interact with upto 50 peers from different backgrounds in the online workshop
  • Understanding of Art mediation as a growing practice

At the Festival:

  • Meet with international and national artists
  • Opportunity to assist artists and thus absorb art making processes
  • Learn production of artistic  installations
  • Exposure to international artworks
  • Develop confidence & hone mediation skills (public speaking, art research, storytelling, developing personal points of view)
  • Make art accessible to the public
