Through a mixture of film and machine learning art experiences, the exhibition highlights the importance of raising awareness of climate change. Incorporating  motion detection hardware as part of the interactive art expression for the physical art exhibition. The actions of the viewer presses upon the need and urgency for climate action and species crisis.

Concept Note

Through a mixture of film and machine learning art experiences, the exhibition highlights the importance of raising awareness of climate change. Using facial expression recognition as an art expression, this exhibition provides an experience that incorporates the viewer’s ways of seeing how their facial expressions categorized into calm and agitated states influence their perception of reality to the species crisis.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: This can cater to anyone who is interested in climate action and climate change, especially those who are in digital arts and technologies who would have more interest. There will definitely be a direct appeal for digital artists, technologists, and various artists, as well as the general public who has interests in biodiversity loss and climate change.


Detailed Description

The world we know, and its inhabitants are slowly vanishing. If we simply stand there and watch on and decide to do nothing, then everything we know of will simply vanish. In a documentary style interactive art exhibition, the viewers will use motion detection sensor technology to move and manipulate a globe with animals which are both extinct and endangered. Some videos in the exhibition was created using machine learning. The art exhibition aims to provide a sense of urgency towards the climate crisis and reflect on take a personal stance on climate action.
