A synergistic duet, partnering dancer and code; movement to swell the voices of our climate crisis. Through p5.js, ml5 and PoseNet, with.each.drop facilitates a collaboration between performer, audiences and machine to understand our dance with nature and water.

We are CHALL:
Ayesha Hassanwalia (India), Cheyenne Alexandria Phillips (Singapore), Hal Rodriguez (USA), Lidya Chrisfens (Singapore) & Lisa Botos (Singapore)
Mentor: Ong Kian Peng (Singapore)
Concept Note
with.each.drop is an interactive visual poem, an ode to the intimate relationship people around the world have with water. Through the use of p5js, ml5 and Posenet, with.each.drop allows a performer to interact with a sensorial representation of the poem through movement and dance. The performer will be able to move, influence and manipulate the poem as they see fit. The poem itself is nonlinear and we aspire that it would be supported by graphic, audio and music cues. Each performance of the poem will be unique, depending on the tempo, movement and choices of the performer. The relationship people have with water is complex, depending on a person’s location, social-political situation and culture. It is only through the collaboration and symbiosis of performers, audiences and machines that people will begin appreciating the delicate dance required to support the fluid cycle we all depend on.

INTENDED AUDIENCE: General audiences (all age groups), dancers and performance artists

Detailed Description
with.each.drop is a duet between human and code. It consists of two parts, the first is a choreographed dance performance that invites and triggers a visual poem, both of which move in tandem with each other to create a deeply moving expression of climate grief and anxiety emphasized through man’s relationship to rain.
The second part involves allowing audiences access to the program, be it through an online portal/website and eventually move to a physical space. Audiences will be instructed to strike particular poses that will trigger the visual poem, allowing them to manipulate the words and effects thus creating their own poem and physical responses to express their climate grief.
