Poetry from our Homeground.
We needed to choose 3 pieces of poetry from our ‘homeground’.
I chose to work with children’s literature from across time and languages.
One which is written for children
The second is written by a child and
the third about childhood imagination and bravery.
The last one is in Bengali and has been a part of the school curriculum . It has had a major impact on the psyche on many of my peers who who studied the language in calcutta.

I needed to work with an english translation.
A lot is lost in translation and small segments don’t really work for these poems – but lets work with it.
Do we want to teach AI Vernacular languages ?
We were introduced to “Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3”
I chose 4 lines from the poems into the GTP3 with a premise outlined for each.
Premise: Be brave to learn new things
Poet :
Poem:
Trying something new, can be, a bit frightening!
However, it has it’s merits, as it also can be, quite enlightening!
You never know, until you try, what the outcome is going to be!
Like everything else in life, you just have to wait and see!
Premise: be brave to try something new
Poet : Nalini (my 9 year old daughter)
Poem:
What an absurd idea! walking upside down!
Was the reply I got, along with a frown
Everyone thought I was crazy – doing this for fun!
They said “no you can’t do it, it just cannot be done!”
Premise : The poet wonders why some exciting things do not actually happen in the mundane course of everyday life.
Poet : Tagore
Poem:
Just imagine mother, that you and I
are travelling far (can’t remember why)
your palanquin’s rocking to and fro
with four behers going hey-ho
Besides them I am trotting along
on my little red pony, singing a song.
Then we joined together @dianeedwards Shayek and I.
chose a piece each which had related themes and but totally different styles of writing.
Premise: Climate change
Poem: How can we live as if in a child’s painting: Earth sky
what is human between them
how can we live between sky and earth
and not be compressed
Premise: Playground
Poem:Once I walked past old, large, trees
And into an old green park
I glanced at the huge, old trees
How huge they are & also dark…
Premise: Be brave to learn new things
Poem:Trying something new, can be, a bit frightening!
However, it has it’s merits, as it also can be, quite enlightening!
You never know, until you try, what the outcome is going to be!
Like everything else in life, you just have to wait and see!
after playing with the GPT3 : This emerged.
Premise: Everyday you learn how special I am, my imaginary friends
Poem: Let me tell you how the infinite wisdom of the universe works
you see, each day people die
that you do not know
Ghosts appear in dark corners
Lost loves
Dark memories
These memories and thoughts tend to blend together & interact in brain fantastically
We are here purely because, one of us has caught your heart you see
We hope before too long, to see you
I am interested in discussions on digital literacy and citizenship. It is impacting the planet on multiple levels. From the way we engage with the planet, our families our work and each other. This is in the context of my role as a parent – and it
What we feed the machine is what it can become. Feed it as we feed our children.
It affects the planet and all creatures in it. This is in the context of my role as a parent of a human child , a puppy and now a machine child.
